Due to high winds the Britannia Bridge has been partially closed. Cars and car derived vehicles are the only vehicles currently permitted to travel over the bridge. All other vehicles - including high sided vehicles, heavy goods vehicles, caravans and motorbikes are being directed by officers off the A55.

Currently:

.             A55 Junction 10 on-slip westbound is closed

.             A55 Westbound Junction 9  on-slip filtering in place

.             A55 Eastbound junction 8A at Carreg Bran - filtering in place

.             HGV's and high sided vehicles are being directed to Bryn Cegin where rest facilities are available.

Motorists heading to Holyhead Port are advised to check sailings with the ferry company and all high sided vehicles at Holyhead Port are being advised to remain at the location until Britannia Bridge is re-opened.

Wind Speeds are being constantly monitored and updates will be provided.

Chief Inspector Nick Evans said: "Travel disruption is expected and people heading for the ferry Port are advised to check their sailings with the relevant ferry companies before setting out on their journey."

"We are asking people to be careful and to consider whether their journey is absolutely necessary."
