Latest firefighters strike comes to an endPosted
Today's five hour strike by firefighters in England and Wales came to an end at 3pm this afternoon (Sunday 4th May).
Chief Fire OfficerSimon Smithreported that North Wales Fire and Rescue Service had continued to manage its services effectively during the industrial action.
"Despite the reduction in resources at our disposal, our arrangements operated effectively and we have now returned to normal service.
"I am grateful to the public for their cooperation and for taking notice of our safety advice - the number of calls made to our control room was lower than we would normally expect for a Sunday on a bank holiday weekend.
"Although this strike is over, it is as yet unclear whether there will be further industrial action by firefighters so I would remind people that attention to fire safety and road safety remains of paramount importance."
