Vehicles set alight in Wrexham

An investigation is underway after  six cars have been set on fire in the Hightown area of Wrexham tonight (Sunday June 14).

Shortly after 10pm North Wales Police were informed by the Fire and Rescue Service that a vehicle was on fire on Waterloo Close.

Further reports of another five vehicles on fire were received via the North Wales Police Control Room and at present six vehicles have been set alight.

The emergency services are in attendance, including the police helicopter and the investigation is now underway.

Chief Inspector Jane Banham from North Wales Police said: "This is being treated as an extremely serious incident however, luckily nobody has been injured. I am appealing to anybody who may have any information, or anybody who may have witnessed suspicious behaviour in or around the Waterloo Close area  to contact us immediately.

"Extra patrols are now in place and I would like to reassure local residents that we are working closely with our colleagues in the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service to apprehend those involved."
