‘Find your Float’ this World Drowning Prevention Day
PostedStaff from the Service are joining forces with partners for World Drowning Prevention Day this Friday and helping to spread a potentially lifesaving message to our communities – ‘Find your Float!’
The National Water Safety Forum ‘Find your Float’ campaign will see activities taking place across the UK.
Here in North Wales, will be joining with partners for two public water safety awareness events - one at Llyn Tegid, Bala between 10am – 3pm and one at Llyn Padarn, Llanberis between 12pm – 4pm.
The Service’s Water Rescue Unit will be in attendance at both events hosting practical demonstrations and water safety activities, while Swim Safe sessions will be hosted by partners from Byw’n Iach Gwynedd at Llyn Tegid and Plas Menai at Llyn Padarn. Other partners and supporters attending the events include Debbie Ann Turnbull MBE with River and Sea Sense – Water Education, the RNLI, the Coastguard, Mountain Rescue Teams, Reach and Rescue, Pete Lewin Newfoundlands and 2 Wish.
Gwyn Roberts, Watch Manager, Fire Safety at North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Water Safety Lead said: “We’re coming together to raise awareness, promote safety, and deliver vital messages like ‘Float to Live’ and ‘Call, Tell, Throw’.
