Incident – Conwy Tunnel Vehicle Fire

Update 18:23 We anticipate that there will be significant disruption for the next few days, and motorists are being advised to allow additional time for their journeys and to keep up to date with the latest traffic and travel information via Traffic Wales.

Update 15:42 This has now been declared a major incident. We're working with multi-agency partners to control the fire, protect the environment and re-open the tunnel as soon as it's safe to do so. Please close windows and doors if you live in the vicinity.
Update 15:10 Our crews are currently in attendance at a vehicle fire in the Conwy Tunnel on the A55. The tunnel is expected to be closed in both directions for some time. Please avoid the area and seek alternative routes. We’ll provide updates as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
