Positive Action
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service is committed to building a workforce that reflects the diverse communities we serve across North Wales.
We recognise that some groups are under-represented within the fire and rescue sector. We use lawful positive action to encourage applications from people who may be less represented in our workforce and to help remove barriers that could prevent them from considering a career with us.
A diverse workforce brings different skills, perspectives and experiences. It helps us better understand our communities and provide the best possible service to the people of North Wales.
Positive action helps us attract people with different experiences, backgrounds and perspectives that brings greater insight, diversity of thought and a more holistic way of problem solving and finding solutions in our prevention, protection, and emergency response.
Permitted under the Equality Act 2010, Positive Action is about encouraging participation and removing disadvantage.
All recruitment, promotion and selection decisions are made fairly and on merit. Everyone who applies is assessed against the same criteria and standards.
All positive action work is delivered in line with our Workforce Representation Strategy.
